Reducing Military Spending

Position Statement

“He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” (Isaiah 2:4)

House of Hope is a “Peace Church” in the spirit of the Every Church a Peace Church movement. House of Hope members participate in public protests against continued or increased US war efforts and excessive Military Industrial Congressional Complex  (MICC) budgets.

Each year the Peace and Justice Committee brings in expert speakers to learn what citizens like us and congregations like House of Hope can do to help reduce US military spending. The Committee tries to identify resolutions, petitions, events, and programs that can be endorsed by individuals and congregations in support of reduced MICC spending.
