Katherine Stewart is an investigative journalist and the author of the New York Times bestselling Money, Lies, and God: Inside the Movement to Destroy American Democracy (Bloomsbury, 2025). Her previous book, The Power Worshippers: Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism (Bloomsbury, 2020) formed the basis of the documentary feature God & Country, produced by Rob Reiner. The Power Worshippers was also awarded First Place in the Nonfiction Books category by the Religion News Association, among other prizes, and was Union Theological Seminary’s Fall Read. Stewart’s work appears in The New York Times op ed,, Religion News Service and others. Her focus on November 9 will include ways in which faith communities can work to defend democracy.
