An immersive textile installation by Kip Beardsley

Artist’s Reception: Thursday, October 1 | 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Journeys from the Journey is an immersive textile installation by Saint Paul artist Kip Beardsley, inspired by his eight-week journey retracing routes and stories of the Underground Railroad.
Through large-scale handwoven works, Beardsley explores themes of journey, resilience, witness, and the power of listening to another person’s experience. Textiles created for the installation incorporate symbols and stories encountered along the way, inviting visitors to move through the work and reflect on histories that continue to resonate today.
The installation is free and open to the public. Join us for the Artist’s Reception on October 1 to meet Beardsley and experience the exhibition.

Hope Arts Center’s Two-Day Celebration: “Creativity, Resilience, and Your Unique Voice.”
Designed for parents, children, grandparents, educators, caregivers, mentors, health professionals and those interested in the intersection of arts and health, the weekend brings together nationally acclaimed speakers, outstanding Twin Cities arts organizations, and hands-on experiences that celebrate the creativity and potential of every child while equipping the adults who help them thrive.
Throughout the weekend, enjoy compelling talks, performances by Hope Arts Center student musicians, family puppet-making with Heart of the Beast Puppet Theatre, multigenerational dance workshops with Young Dance, book sales and signings with Red Balloon Bookshop, a parade with Heart of the Beast artists, poetry slam, art gallery visits, receptions, and a lively dance party.
Children & Family Weekend reflects a shared belief that creativity is more than artistic expression—it builds confidence, strengthens resilience, fosters connection, and helps young people flourish. Whether you are raising children, teaching them, mentoring them, or simply care about the next generation, this weekend offers inspiration, practical ideas, and meaningful opportunities to create, learn, and celebrate together.
