Since 1855
Founded on Christmas Eve in 1855, House of Hope has been part of Saint Paul’s life for generations. Our congregation has worshiped at its Summit Avenue home since 1914.
Our historic church holds the stories of those who came before us. Today, that continuing story takes shape in the people who gather here and the ways we serve our neighbors.
As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), we bring both faith and curiosity to the life we share. We read Scripture thoughtfully, learn from one another, and make room for honest questions.
Through worship, reflection, and conversation, we explore how faith speaks to our lives and our world. You do not need to have every answer to take part.
House of Hope is a Covenant Network Congregation. The Covenant Network is a broad-based, national group of clergy and lay leaders that are working for a church that is simultaneously faithful, just, and whole.
We are called to achieve this goal by working for the unity of the church, furthering the inclusion of LGBTQ+ persons, seeking understanding and reconciliation, and joining with others seeking a still more just and inclusive church.
Leadership at House of Hope is shared among elected members of the congregation.

Trustees care for the church’s property and help guide its financial stewardship, working under the oversight of Session.
