In our Wednesday morning Bible Study, we use the Common Lectionary with scripture readings for each Sunday in a three-year cycle.  Each yearly cycle of readings and psalms begins with the First Sunday of Advent.  We are currently in Year A, which includes four readings: 

a reading from the Hebrew Scriptures, 

     a psalm, 

         a Gospel reading (currently Matthew) 

             and an epistle.  

One of the intents of a Lectionary is to provide for use of the whole range of scripture in the church’s worship.  The Lectionary for Sundays embodies a semi-continuous reading of much of the Bible during Ordinary Time, while embracing a select lectionary for the Christmas and Easter cycles and certain other festivals.  Each spring the Wednesday Bible Study group usually discusses a book to deepen our biblical understanding and our walk in faith together.
