Homelessness

“And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
Matthew 8:20

House of Hope supports the full spectrum of housing needs within our community by increasing awareness of homelessness issues and affecting change that will help to end homelessness. Our involvement includes pounding nails on a Habitat for Humanity project, advocating before state and locally elected officials, and giving financial support to help develop supportive housing.

Prior Crossing

House of Hope partnered with Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative to build Prior Crossing: Housing Development for Homeless Youth. The 44-unit development provides supportive, affordable housing for homeless youth in Ramsey County, MN. “We had a goal to make a difference in the lives of St. Paul youth,” said Jack Sjoholm, House of Hope congregant and Beacon board member.

Project Home

Project Home is another way that we love our neighbors as ourselves. Volunteers are now providing laundry support for Project Home families living at their new permanent location. Watch a recent video highlighting House of Hope’s involvement and dedicated volunteers.

Women’s Advocates

Women’s Advocates provides shelter for nearly 1,000 women and children each year. A group of volunteers gathers every third Thursday from 6–7:30 p.m. at the shelter to do a craft project or play games with the women and children, followed by sharing a healthy snack together.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity helps alleviate the housing crisis by assisting low-income families construct or renovate their homes. Volunteers from House of Hope support Saturday Work Crews and Summer Faith Builders joining four congregations to work on a home.
