Scott Jones as Senior Pastor and Head of Staff of The House of Hope Presbyterian Church during the 10 a.m. service. A reception will take place in the Kirk Parlour following the service. \nRev. Darrell L. Goodwin will be our guest preacher for the service. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n \nReverend Doctor E. Scott Jones is House of Hope’s Senior Pastor and Head of Staff. Prior to joining House of Hope in May 2025\, Scott served for fifteen years as Senior Minister of the First Central Congregational Church of Omaha\, Nebraska. He has also pastored churches in Oklahoma\, Texas\, and Arkansas. Scott earned his PhD and Master’s in Philosophy from the University of Oklahoma\, following his BA in Religion and Philosophy from Oklahoma Baptist University. He is also a two-time alumnus of the Yale Writers’ Workshop\, a former lecturer in the Philosophy Department at Creighton University\, and author of Open: A Memoir of Faith\, Family\, and Sexuality in the Heartland. \n\n\n\n \n\nRev. Darrell L. Goodwin is the first Executive Conference Minister of the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ. A Chicago native\, he serves as chief vision keeper for the Conference\, guiding churches and ministries to make a lasting impact in the world. He previously served as Associate Conference Minister for the Iowa\, Nebraska\, and South Dakota Conferences and directed the Pension Boards’ Faith and Personal Finance Initiative\, a $1 million Lilly Endowment-funded program supporting clergy from historically underrepresented groups. With over 20 years of ministry experience\, Rev. Goodwin has led churches\, campus ministries\, and student affairs departments in both Protestant and Catholic settings. He holds degrees from Boston College\, the University of Vermont\, and Seattle University\, and is currently completing his Doctor of Ministry at San Francisco Theological Seminary. Known for his dynamic leadership and deep commitment to justice and inclusion\, he is also an avid dinner host and bridge-builder across communities.

DESCRIPTION:John Rutter: Requiem with The Motet Choir and House of Hope Chamber Orchestra\nRequiem was written in 1985 and first performed in October of that year. Following the precedent established by Brahms and Fauré\, among others\, it is not strictly a setting of the Requiem Mass as laid down in Catholic liturgy\, but instead is made up of a personal selection of texts\, some taken from the Requiem Mass and some from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. The seven sections of the work form an arch-like meditation on the themes of life and death: the first and last movements (Requiem aeternam and Lux aeternam) are prayers on behalf of all humanity\, movements 2 and 3 (Out of the deep and The Lord is my shepherd) are Psalms\, 3 and 5 (Pie Jesu and Agnus Dei) are personal prayers to Christ\, and the central Sanctus is an affirmation of divine glory.\n– Program note for Requiem by John Rutter
