In 2025\, he released two major publications—Kitchen Hymns\, a new collection of original poems (“CHEERIO” and “Copper Canyon Press”)\, and 44 Poems on Being with Each Other: A Poetry Unbound Collection (“Canongate” and “W.W. Norton”)— both of which deepen his reputation as one of today’s most resonant poetic voices. \nThis special event features readings and a wide-ranging conversation between Ó Tuama and Minnesota Book Award–winning poet and The Loft’s Senior Director of Craft\, G.E. Patterson. DESCRIPTION:In the wake of the Second World War and the Holocaust\, in a period where ordinary people were beset with doubts and the problem of God’s involvement with evil and suffering had become acute\, many theologians grappled with new ways to think and talk about God\, which generally resulted in the rejection of traditional understandings of God’s power and action. \nIn a four-week class on Wednesday nights\, Senior Pastor Scott Jones will launch the first in a series of Formations for 2026\, taught by our clergy. \nJoin us for a potluck meal at 5:30 p.m.\, then hear about and discuss the rich and wonderful explorations of God in contemporary theology. Future classes will discuss methods of Biblical interpretation\, practical spiritual skills\, and the way of discipleship. \nThis session: What insights on God were gained when the church began to listen to a broader array of voices and perspectives? On Wednesday\, January 28\, our Formations class\, The God Revolution\, will explore various liberation theologies that emerged in the late 20th century\, addressing poverty\, racism\, sexism\, homophobia\, and more.

Come enjoy shortbread provided by the college. \nThe 11:15 a.m. Sunday Enrichment will be led by Michael Breidenbach who is the Director of Piping at Macalester College and Pipe Major–meaning leader and artistic/creative director–of the Macalester College Pipe Band. Mike and members of the Macalester Band have performed at House of Hope on Reformation Sunday and Macalester College Sunday for many years. Mike is a nationally recognized performer on the pipes. He will share the history and music of the pipes.He has been a full-time bagpipe teacher and performer since 1999. Mike has performed on stage with The Cheiftans\, Blink-182\, and others.

SUMMARY:Formations Series: The God Revolution
DESCRIPTION:In the wake of the Second World War and the Holocaust\, in a period where ordinary people were beset with doubts and the problem of God’s involvement with evil and suffering had become acute\, many theologians grappled with new ways to think and talk about God\, which generally resulted in the rejection of traditional understandings of God’s power and action. \nIn a four-week class on Wednesday nights\, Senior Pastor Scott Jones will launch the first in a series of Formations for 2026\, taught by our clergy. \nJoin us for a potluck meal at 5:30 p.m.\, then hear about and discuss the rich and wonderful explorations of God in contemporary theology. Future classes will discuss methods of Biblical interpretation\, practical spiritual skills\, and the way of discipleship. \nThis session: What insights on God were gained when the church began to listen to a broader array of voices and perspectives? On Wednesday\, January 28\, our Formations class\, The God Revolution\, will explore various liberation theologies that emerged in the late 20th century\, addressing poverty\, racism\, sexism\, homophobia\, and more.
