For over five years, People Incorporated has been piloting an innovative partnership with the St. Paul Police Department that brings together Police and Mental Health Professionals. The pilot program places a full time clinical social worker with the unit that responds to community 911 calls that are mental health related. Once police secure the site, the social worker works to de-escalate the situation, determine the type of assistance needed.
