SUMMER FUN AT HOUSE OF HOPE
Summer programming for children open to the community

St. Paul, MN. . . . May 16, 2002. . . . Registrations are currently being accepted for 'God’s Wonderful Wednesdays' at The House of Hope Presbyterian Church. Open to children from age 3 through those who have completed kindergarten, the program will take place on June 12, 19, 26, and August 7 and 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. There is a 'lunch bunch' option for those who would like to send a lunch with their children.

Each morning has its own theme and activities specific to that day’s program. Activities will include Bible stories, art projects, science activities, music, play time, snacks and even computer time. Space is limited to twelve children per room. The cost is $10 per morning, $12 including lunch. Registrations may be made for a single Wednesday or for all five. Paid registrations for three or more Wednesdays, which are received by June 7, will receive a price break. Call Jan Snell, Director of Children’s Christian Education, at 651-223-7547, to register.

On August 19-23, The House of Hope will host a day camp for children who have completed grades 1 through 5. Participants can choose to attend the full day (and bring a bag lunch) or half a day. Morning options (9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon) include 'A Trip Into Narnia' and 'Horse Play Drama Works,' an interactive theater experience which includes improvisation, movement games, role playing, character creation and mask work.

Afternoon programs (12:00 noon to 4:30 p.m.) include 'Afternoon Adventure Camp' and 'Camp Kung Fu,' where students will experience a blend of self-defense training and cultural learning. Basic self-defense techniques and making healthy choices are part of the afternoon.

The cost is $80 per child for the week for both morning and afternoon programs; morning or afternoon only, $40. Space is limited and the fee must accompany the registration form. Call Jan Snell at 651-223-7547 for registration information and forms.

Ongoing education programs for children include Summer Sunday School for ages 4 through completed grade 4, beginning June 16. There is one worship service at 10:00 a.m. Children attend the first part of worship and then are excused following the Time for Children for a special program, 'Jonah, An Overboard Adventure.' Nursery and toddler care is provided every Sunday morning during the summer for infants and children up to age 4

The House of Hope Presbyterian Church is located at 797 Summit Avenue at Avon Street in St. Paul. Parking is available in the lot immediately north of church on Portland Avenue, or in a lot on the south side of Summit Avenue across from the church. The summer programs are accessible from the entrances on the north side of the church on Portland Avenue.
