St. Paul, MN . . . February 26, 2004 . . . The public is invited to attend worship and education offerings at The House of Hope Presbyterian Church in St. Paul during the season of Lent. There is a midweek worship service every Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. in the Elizabeth Chapel. The service focuses on healing, and offers participants an opportunity for individual prayer and laying on of hands and anointing with oil for those who choose. The worship service is followed by a light supper at 6:00 p.m. in the Kirk Parlour. No reservations are necessary; a freewill offering will be taken to cover the cost of food. The midweek adult education forum during Lent explores the question “What is a lifetime and why do we live it?” The five-week series, which looks at human development in theological perspective, will be led by Rev. Dr. Lucy Forster-Smith, chaplain at Macalester College. Classes will be held on Wednesdays, March 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31, in the Kirk Parlour, following dinner. Childcare is available only upon request. Childcare reservations may be made with Jan Snell, Director of Children’s Christian Education, by calling 651-223-7547. A Lenten study for women will be held on Friday mornings, March 12, 19, and 26, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the church library. Rev. Darlene Auger Stensby will facilitate discussion Lenten scriptures and themes. No pre-registration is necessary. The House of Hope Presbyterian Church is located at 797 Summit Avenue at Avon Street in St. Paul. The Elizabeth Chapel, Kirk Parlour and Library are all available through church entrances on both Summit Avenue and Portland Avenue. Handicap accessibility is through the west door on Portland Avenue.
