Tableaux - 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, December 23, 5:30 p.m.

Literally a "living picture," tableaux or tableaux vivant are representations of characters, scenes, paintings or statues brought to life. Historically they were used to dramatize important moments in history and literature in order to educate and inform. Popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, tableaux were often done at festivals or holidays, especially Christmas. Now in its 96th year, the House of Hope Traditional Christmas Tableaux Service is the Christmas story as it is told in scripture, through lovely carols and in the adaptation of tableaux vivant of well-known paintings and familiar scenes of the Nativity. All are welcome for this service in the Sanctuary as we continue this unique and long-standing House of Hope Christmas tradition.
