| Capital City Grief Coalition |
Area churches participate in providing ongoing grief support
groups for persons suffering the loss of a loved one through death. Thursdays,
5 - 6:30 p.m.; meeting location changes every thirteen weeks. |
| Central High School Tutoring Program |
Tutor at-risk students at St. Paul Central High School to assist with basic reading and math learning skills. Meets Tuesday mornings from 7:43 - 8:25 a.m. October to late May. Orientation and teacher support provided for volunteers. |
| Dayton Avenue Joint Projects |
This project joins the efforts of the congregations of the House of Hope and the Dayton Avenue Presbyterian Church. One project offers volunteers the opportunity to serve one Saturday morning every other month from nine until noon to work in the clothing center Dayton Avenue Church located at 217 Mackubin St. in St. Paul. Another project involves gathering school supplies before the start of the school year for children of a nearby school. |
| Family to Family Ties |
Befriend and mentor a family, usually a single parent with children, moving from poverty to stability in the St. Paul community. Being a mentor requires a year-long commitment. Training and support provided on an ongoing basis for mentors. We are also looking for individuals who can make other contributions such as moving families, finding furniture, organizing events, and providing legal advice and other resources to our families. |
| Food Shelf |
House of Hope supports the Hallie Q. Brown Food Shelf. Non-preishable food can be left on the table by the Elizabeth Chapel at any time. Cash gifts are also welcome. |
| Habitat for Humanity |
Help alleviate the housing crisis by assisting low-income families construct or renovate their homes. Need men, women, and youth (if 14-15, with parent). Activities include: Saturday Work Crew on the second Saturday of each month October-April; weekday Work Crew on the third Thursday of each month; Summer Work Camp Crew for one to five days during a week in the summer; Food Crew to provide lunches for our work crews. Other Volunteer Activities such as: working in the Habitat office and warehouse; donating services, building materials, and lots; participating in special events; and serving on various Habitat committees. |
| Kwanzaa Community Church |
This is a mission church of the Presbytery, providing programs to the Hawthorne neighborhood of North Minneapolis. |
| Loaves and Fishes |
Prepare and serve a hot evening meal to our neighbors in the Frogtown area of St. Paul. Third Monday of each month, 5-7 p.m. |
| Project Home |
Extend hospitality and friendship as a host/hostess for one or more evenings (5:30-9:00 p.m.) or overnights (8:30 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.) when House of Hope hosts the St. Paul Council of Churches' overnight family homeless shelter in our Youth Room. Our commitment for the shelter is for 31 days during the month of October. Your time spent with these families can make a difference in their lives and in yours. Families, including children, are encouraged to serve together. |

| Southwest Area Meals on Wheels |
Help deliver midday meals to those confined to their homes. Substitutes welcomed, as well. |
| Sponsor-a-Family |
Buy and wrap Christmas gifts for a needy family. |
| Webster School tutors |
Help out at Webster Elementary, our neighbor at Holly and Grotto |
| Mission Sewing |
Knit, sew, sort and pack items for the needy. Meets at the church on the first and third Thursday of each month, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., September through June. |
| YWCA Family Nite Out |
Women in Transition- Gather at a location near House of Hope from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. for one evening each month. The women of the Y’s Transitional Housing program and their children join with House of Hope volunteers in a variety of activities emphasizing recreation, fellowship and fun. Families with children and youth of all ages are encouraged to attend. |

For singles age 40and up. Single adults are a vital part of the House of Hope congregation. Opportunities for singles within the fuller life of the congregation abound. We also encourage singles to participate in monthly offerings for singles. These are educational and social in purpose. |
